The Kiwanis Club of Washington initiated the Kiwanis Club of Washington Scholarship Fund at the WCCF in 2009 with a contribution of $25,000 to benefit graduating seniors of the Western Area Career & Technology Center.

“Our Club has been providing scholarships for students at the Western Area Career & Technology Center for some time,” said Bill Nickles, Club Treasurer.  “It has been very rewarding for us as a Club to help these students, who sometimes can be overlooked by other groups providing scholarships.  By partnering with the community foundation, we have ensured that the awards will continue forever.”

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.  The Kiwanis Club of Washington has 28 members and, in addition to providing scholarships, is active in the Washington community.  The Kiwanis Club hosts an annual Breakfast with Santa and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, provides volunteers at Pony Baseball World Series, operates a lemonade stand at the Main Street Farmers Market, and volunteers to clean up the I-70 intersection at Beau Street.
