Goal A. Strengthen charitable governance practices in Washington County

Method 1. Increase training opportunities for charity employees and volunteers

  • Action 1: Develop and implement a six-month certificate program for charity employees
  • Action 2: Develop and implement a six-month certificate program for charity board leadership
  • Action 3: Develop a database of trained volunteers for placement on charity boards

Method 2. Utilize the day of giving to educate charities on the importance of cultivating individual giving

  • Action 1: Increase incentives for the Clicks for Cash contest
  • Action 2. Increase incentives to reward charities for increasing their number of donors on the day of giving
  • Action 3: Continue to offer charity trainings to increase outcomes for the day of giving

Goal B. Increase community awareness of Washington County charities

Method 1. Utilize WCCF websites to promote charities and their programs

  • Action 1: Utilize the Clicks for Cash contest to encourage visits to storybook.wccf.net/
  • Action 2: Expand storybook.wccf.net/ website to include at least one impact story for each day of giving charity (could be taken from grant reports)

Method 2. Utilize WCCF publications to promote charities and their programs

  • Action 1: Include a “Heartbeat” section in each monthly issue of Giving Matters to encourage visits to storybook.wccf.net/
  • Action 2: Include in Legacy newsletter, a “Charity Focus” section that would include a narrative photograph of a local charity, encouraging readers to visit storybook.wccf.net/

Goal C. Increase volunteerism in the community

Method 1: Help match volunteers with the needs of Washington County charities.

  • Action 1: Develop a database of charity needs
  • Action 2: Develop a database of volunteers
  • Action 3: Partner with local educational institutions to implement volunteer program
  • Action 4: Subject to financial analysis, hire a volunteer coordinator to match volunteers with charities
