Annual membership in the James H. McCune Acorn Society is granted to professional advisors who have referred or assisted in educating clients which resulted in a gift to the community foundation of any size that year. Special Legacy Membership is reserved for advisors who have referred or assisted in educating clients which resulted in permanent gifts to the community foundation totaling $250,000 or more. We are pleased to have two Legacy Members, Paul Barna and Charles Keller. “Referrals from professional advisors have been and will continue to be a primary factor in the growth of our community’s foundation,” remarked Betsie Trew, Executive Director. “And no advisor has been more committed to promoting local philanthropy through the community foundation than our Founding Chairman, Jim McCune.” “The community foundation was the perfect vehicle to accept and manage the Choratch and Lauerman gifts to the community. The permanency of these gifts is ensured, as my clients stipulated in their wills. And the fact that local citizens will forever benefit from the generosity of two local couples is very fitting.” - Paul Barna, Attorney at Law, Retired “For those who want help in achieving their charitable goals, the WCCF is an ideal partner. It is comforting to have expert assistance in qualifying a charitable gift, protecting invested funds, and satisfying technical requirements.” Charles C. Keller, Senior Counsel, Peacock Keller Regarding a referral he made in 2007 which resulted in a fund valued at more than $100,000 McCune commented, “I referred my clients because I knew that their charitable goals could be met through the community foundation. And the community benefits because the fund that was created supports a local church and a local church school.”
