Created in 1999 by the Burgettstown Jr. Sr. High School Student Council to provide scholarships to future leaders of Burgettstown High School.
The Burgettstown Student Council, with tremendous support from their advisor, Ms. Mary Elaine Lozosky, began a campaign in late 1999 to raise money to create a permanent fund at WCCF to provide scholarships to future leaders of their school. They initiated the fund with moneys the students had raised through various efforts over the previous years. Next, they began a letter writing campaign to local individuals, businesses and alumni of the school. In less than a month they had raised the requisite $5,000. By the end of the 1999-2000 school year, they had over $12,000 in the fund.
