Center In The Woods
To provide the highest quality of life for older adults in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Programs and Services
- The Center in the Woods Inc. (CITW) provides a wide range of community based programs and services to thousands of older adults and their families from 90 communities in a five county area. Those services include: noon-time congregate and home delivered meals, lab services, podiatry services, educational culture/enrichment activities, exercise/wellness programs, beautician services, massage therapy, volunteer opportunities, tax preparation assistance, and adult day care services.
- Our adult day care center serves older adults who have physical and/or cognitive impairments such as dementia, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, depression or those adults who can benefit from socialization and mental/physical stimulation. Through a partnership with Presbyterian Senior Care, the CITW provides senior housing services at the Oaks, an independent living facility attached to our center.
- The CITW also partners with California University of Pennsylvania, Penn State Fayette Campus, and Westmoreland County Community College providing students with internships, practicums, and work study opportunities. The CITW offers students an opportunity to work with older adults who may be experiencing physical and/or mental health issues or those older adults who can benefit from socialization and mental stimulation.
- In addition, the CITW provides space to the Washington County Child Head Start Program where preschool children and older adults partner to conduct intergenerational programs.
