Washington Jazz Society

Mission

Washington Jazz Society's mission is to educate the public regarding the historical development and significance of jazz music, with a special emphasis on young musicians and young audiences. It is dedicated to promoting live jazz music by the local musicians and preserving jazz as an art. It will provide scholarships for deserving young musicians and jazz assistance education in the community.

Programs and Services

  • The Washington Jazz Society provides a jazz performance weekly with solo jazz musicians or groups. It also publicizes other jazz performances in Washington County each week. It provides a scholarship to the Jazz camp at Duquesne University each summer. It is currently developing a 10 session curriculum which will provide a comprehensive program on the history of Jazz with performances by Jazz combos to demonstrate each era of Jazz.
