No Place to Call Home: Homeless Fund
The No Place to Call Home: Homeless Fund is a pass-through fund created in 2013 by the Observer-Reporter to promote and fund long-term solutions and sustainability for organizations providing care for the local homeless population as well as to help solve the immediate need for medical care, food, and shelter for the homeless. Grants from the fund will benefit programs that help the local homeless population regardless of age, gender, or ethnic background.
In the month of April and at other times throughout the year, the paper will run a series on the homeless titled “No Place to Call Home" and the fund will be promoted to the public with each series.
Through the project, the Observer-Reporter hopes to create community awareness of the local homeless population, promote long-term solutions; help organizations providing services to meet the immediate needs of the homeless, and also help organizations with projects that will create sustainability.
