Friends of MarkWest Scholarship Fund II for Avella, Burgettstown, Chartiers-Houston, Fort Cherry, McGuffey, and Trinity students.

The scholarship amount awarded is subject to the length of time required for completion of the degree or certification.  

  • Scholarships for Certificate Programs are valued at $1,000.
  • Scholarships for Associates's Degrees are valued at $2,000, payable at $1,000 per year, provided recipient continues to remain enrolled at the college or university in a STEM field and maintains good academic standing.
  • Scholarships for Bachelor's Degrees are valued at $4,000, payable at $1,000 per year, provided recipient continues to remain enrolled at the college or university in a STEM field and maintains good academic standing.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a current year graduating senior from Avella, Burgettstown, Chartiers-Houston, Fort Cherry, McGuffey, or Trinity school districts.
  • Applicant must
    • be pursuing a Certificate program related to natural gas-related pursuits, including, but not limited to electrical technician, mechanical technician, or welding technician OR
    • be accepted at an accredited post-secondary college or university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Applicant must demonstrate ability to complete chosen post-secondary course of study.
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicant must provide high school transcript.
  • Applicant must provide an unofficial ACT or SAT test score.
  • Applicant must provide an essay of no more than 500 words regarding past accomplishments and future goals.
  • Applicant must provide a copy of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) student aid report.
  • Applicant must provide two letters of recommendation (no relatives please).
  • Applicant must complete the online application as provided and mail the application receipt along with hard copies of all required documentation to the WCCF.

Complete application must be received by the Foundation by April 1.

Scholarships will be awarded in the spring.
