(1999) - Created by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Friends to provide support for Leadership Washington County.

On January 29th, 2009, the Washington County community suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Elaine Cribbs Rizza.

After founding her own law firm in Washington in the early 1990’s, she quickly immersed herself in the practice of giving far more back to the community than she ever received.  She was not only a member of the first graduating class of LWC, but also served as the President of the LWC Board for two years.  In addition to her service to LWC, Elaine was a Board Member for The United Way of Washington County, The American Cancer Society, The Washington County Chamber of Commerce, The Washington Area Humane Society and countless other community organizations.

In 2003, The Washington County Chamber of Commerce named her the Outstanding Woman in Business and in 2004, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania named her as one of Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business.

To honor Elaine’s memory, Leadership Washington County has established a scholarship at the Washington County Community Foundation.  The Elaine Cribbs Rizza Memorial Scholarship will annually allow other Washington County leaders to participate in the LWC program and continue her legacy of service to our community.  If you would like to honor Elaine’s memory and contribute to the scholarship fund, please make your check payable to “Washington County Community Foundation” and indicate “Leadership Washington County” on the memo line.  Contributions may be forwarded to:
