(2000) -
Mrs. Margaret Pitek Ciervo, a 1949 graduate of Centerville High School, dedicated much of her life to being a devoted wife and mother, but did find time to work several years as a licensed practical nurse in State College. Later, when her husband Arthur retired from Penn State, where he was the director of public education, she joined him as a partner in a consulting firm, which specializes in college public relations. Together they established an annual conference on "How Colleges and Universities Can Obtain National (and Regional) Publicity." It is now the top conference of its kind in the country. She was always active in charitable causes, including the delivery of clothing and furniture to poor families in Harrisburg; supporting programs at a homeless shelter; and helping Vietnamese families to get resettled in the United States. She was the daughter of Michael and Mary Ballon Pitek of Denbo, PA. She is the mother of four children: Renee Liss, Penn Valley, PA; Lynette Grenier, Rockville, MD; Mara Vail, Malvern, PA and Mark Timothy, Largo, FL. |
