Rebecca Sarah Rogers, a fourth grade student at the Washington Park School, had already decided that she wanted to become a teacher.

Sadly, Rebecca died in October, 2006 at the very tender age of 10 so her dream to become a teacher will not be realized.  However, through the Rebecca Sarah Rogers Fund graduating seniors from Washington High School, may pursue their dreams to become a teacher.

"Rebecca was a caring, compassionate little girl who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.  Her classmates were very upset by her sudden death and thought of ways to remember her," commented Mary Ann Raymer, Elementary Principal.  "All of the students that were in her classes agreed to work  harder to increase their points in the Accelerated Reader Program.  During the second 9 weeks, the scores increased by 150% because of the Read for Rebecca program," she went on to say.

"She was a social butterfly, and no one could not fall in love with her," said her older sister, Roxanne.  "She brightened the day of every person she came in contact with, by being thoughtful and concerned for their well-being."

In addition to reading, Rebecca loved to dance and to go shopping.
