Walter Christman considers himself fortunate that his grandparents, Clarence and Madeline Christman, were willing and able to take him in as a young child and to raise him in a loving and nurturing environment.

In retirement, Walt wishes to help others as he was helped and so he created the Walter L. Christman Family Fund.  As a donor advised fund, Walt will annually consider the charitable causes he wishes to support from the Fund.  Of particular interest to  him is the ability to direct grants from the Fund to worthy charitable projects which do not have a IRS 501 (c) (3) designation.

After attending Washington High School, Walt studied for two  years at Iona College in New York and also served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

Walt founded Christman Trucking Corporation in 1961 and went on to establish several other businesses including Christman Air Freight, Christman Air System, and Christman Rubber Company.  He also owned and operated a local travel agency, Travel Concepts, for a time.

He was a Founding Member of Air Freight Motor Carriers, Chairman of the local Red Cross and was active on the board of the Brownson House.

Walt and his wife, Audrey, have four children, Walter, Wendy, Cheryl and Mark, and nine grandchildren.
