W. Scott Russell of Hickory was born May 25, 1930 a son of Johnston Miller and Anna Mary Scott Russell. He was a graduate of Hickory High School Class of 1948, and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Russell was also a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He began his career with PNB in 1956. He was elected vice president of PNB in 1971, and became district manager of the bank's Washington County branches in 1977. Mr. Russell died at age 60 on Sunday, September 16, 1990, in Niagara County, N.Y., from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Mr. Russell was involved with several organizations: Washington Rotary Club, Washington Flyers Club, Washington Parking Authority, Washington County Historical Society, Mt. Pleasant Township Historical Library Association, Neighborhood House Association, Greater Washington Area Chamber of Commerce, Washington County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Washington Hospital, Washington Industrial Development Corp., Washington County Council on Economic Development, Washington County Motor Club, United Way of Washington County, Boy Scouts of America, Mt. Pleasant Township Zoning Hearing Board, Richard Vaux Lodge 454 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, and the American Legion Post 175 in Washington.
