President's Choice Award / $10,000 Unrestricted Grant from the Acorn Fund

Acorn Fund

The President's Choice Award, previously the Director’s Choice Award, was created by the Board of Trustees in recognition of the 10th anniversary of the Foundation’s first executive director, Betsie Trew, and to “honor the Foundation’s earliest donors who were willing to invest in the Community Foundation when it was a great idea waiting to happen.”

Eligible charities will:

  • have an operating budget of less than $250,000;
  • have been in existence for at least three years;
  • provide a program in at least one of the seven funding areas supported by the Acorn Fund which include Arts & Humanities, Community Improvement & Economic Development, Education, Environment & Animal Welfare, Health & Fitness, Human Needs, Religion & Faith Based.

Applicants will be judged on the following criteria: quality of programming, community impact as gauged by the number of people served, programs offered or other measurable component, and improvement in the organization’s financial position since inception or over the last five years.

The deadline to apply is May 1.
