Highland Ridge Community Development Corporation
To improve the educational, academic, social and economic climate of the community, to become a safer, cleaner, more beautiful and prosperous place to live, work, worship and play.
Programs and Services
- Highland Ridge CDC has two main components: the Mending Fences and Staying Green programs. Mending Fences assists homeowners who are low-income Seniors, Veterans or those with physical disabilities to remain in their homes. Working with volunteers and professionals we provide repairs for their safety and comfort. We co-op with other organizations, companies and groups to serve the City of Washington residents throughout the year and with a student-volunteer blitz during the summer.
- Highland Ridge's Staying Green program promotes and maintains the Community Garden that rents at minimal cost garden plots for the production of fresh vegetables, herbs and flowers for City residents. We also work with volunteers on the upkeep of flower planters and trash cans throughout the City; participate in clean-up days; and are the official stewards of the Mayor's Park for Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
- Cooperative efforts for HRCDC include our connection with students at Washington & Jefferson College, Bishop Canevin High School in Carnegie, and those from various local schools conducted by Mission Washington youth groups from Church of the Covenant, Life Church and Washington Alliance Church.
