To aid and assist the visually impaired and to create awareness around prevention of unnecessary blindness.
Programs and Services
- TRAINING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES:Transportation/Escort Services to medical facilities and other resources, such as banking, shopping etc.Instructions in Activities of Daily Living is provided.Supportive Services in the Home are given.Peer Support Groups and Case Management are provided.
- PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS AND EDUCATION SERVICES:Children (from 6 month-6 years old)are provided with vision screeningsA Preschool Eye Safety Program is offered to all of the 4th grades in our bi-county service area.
- CHILDREN'S SERVICES: Using grant money and donations,children, upon referral are provided with eyewear or equipment that is needed.Play Group, including children from birth-kindergarten who have vision loss are invited to play with their peers. The adults in their lives may share experiences with other adults faced with raising visually impaired children. PETS (Pre-Employment Transition) Services for students ages 14-21. Independent Living Skills and Self-Advocacy Awareness will be taught.
- THE RICHARD ROBINSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is a $1000.00 scholarship offered each year to those applicants who are planning to further their education and must be blind or visually impaired; or be a family member of a blind, legally blind or visually impaired person; or be pursuing a career working with disabled individuals.
