Washington Jazz Society

Mission

Washington Jazz Society's mission is to educate the public regarding the historical development and significance of jazz music, with a special emphasis on young musicians and young audiences. It is dedicated to promoting live jazz music by the local musicians and preserving jazz as an art. It will provide scholarships for deserving young musicians and jazz assistance education in the community.

Programs and Services

  • We provide weekly Jazz brunches with special artists once a month from Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio.
  • We are currently developing a program for music lessons for disadvantaged and special needs students involving free lessons and instruments and in the past have done a series of seminars on the development of Jazz including a lecture, demonstration and opportunity for amateur musicians to participate in learning the skills involved.
