George and Mary Matijevich Scholarship Fund

Typical Award: One Scholarship of $1,000

Post-Secondary Program: Certificate, Associate, Bachelor's

Requirements

• Applicant must be a current year graduating senior from either Burgettstown High School, Avella High School, or Fort Cherry High School who is pursuing post-secondary education in electronics, mechanics, mechatronics, machine tool technology or a related field. Applicant must also demonstrate aptitude for chosen field of study as well as financial need.

Special Consideration

Preference will be given to Certificate, Trade, or Technical School applicants.

Application

If the student is planning to attend a four-year program, the applicant must submit an online application that includes:

• A response of no more than 500 words to the following essay topic: How will my plans for post-secondary education help me to achieve success in my future career?

• A PDF of the applicant’s FAFSA Student Aid Report.

Deadline

All required application components must be received by April 1. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

The Foundation will take steps to secure transcripts for any applicant who is under consideration for an award. Scholarship awards are determined solely by the Foundation and scholarship awards may be rescinded at any time if upon further review, the applicant is deemed to be ineligible, or for any other reason as determined by the Foundation.
