From June 6-12, the Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) will host its annual web-based contest for charities who have registered to participate in its upcoming WCCF Gives day of giving. The winning organizations will receive a total of $5,000 in unrestricted grants from the Foundation’s Acorn Fund. Gateway Health recently made a gift of $5,000 to exclusively sponsor this year’s contest.
“Gateway Health is delighted to offer our support to one of Washington County Community Foundation’s most popular activities – the ‘Clicks for Cash’ contest. It is our hope that the $3,000 unrestricted Acorn Fund grant grand prize, will fuel friendly competition between the charities and lead to record levels of community participation,” remarked Carol Rhodes, Community Affairs Specialist at Gateway Health.
Members of the community are encouraged to visit wccfgives.org, go to the "Charity Search" section of the site, and click on the charity profile pages of their favorite WCCF Gives participants to cast their votes. Contest participants may cast a vote for more than one charity. The charity who receives the most unique pageviews during the contest period will receive a $3,000 unrestricted grant. Additionally, the WCCF will use the contest results to distribute four $500 unrestricted grants based on a lottery. Each charity will receive one chance for each unique pageview, so the more unique pageviews a charity receives, the more chances that charity will have in the lottery. A computer program will choose the lottery winners at random.
“With each passing year, the Foundation has recorded increased activity on wccfgives.org during the ‘Clicks for Cash’ contest period. We hope that trend continues in 2016 since our data has indicated that the charities who performed well in the contest have also performed well on Gives day,” remarked Betsie Trew, WCCF President & CEO. “If you have a few seconds to give, you can help your favorite charities win a grant through ‘Clicks for Cash.’ Simply visit each charity’s profile page on wccfgives.org, from June 6 to 12.”
Qualified 501(c)(3) charities that have not yet registered for WCCF Gives are encouraged to do so by June 1 so that they may participate in both the day of giving and the “Clicks for Cash” contest. No registrations will be accepted after the June 1 deadline. For complete criteria and the registration form, please visit wccfgives.org.
