The Frank Sarris Charitable Fund was created in 2003 in conjunction with Mr. Sarris being chosen as the WCCF’s Philanthropist of the Year.
Mr. Sarris was President of Sarris Candies, a Pittsburgh-area favorite. But Sarris Candies is not appreciated by Pittsburgh natives alone. Frank has been recognized by many local, state, and national organizations for his successful business.
He has been set apart as a community-minded man who has made lasting contributions to local needs. Some of the area organizations to which Frank has shown his generosity include All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Washington County Humane Society, Animal Friends, Canonsburg July 4th Parade, Canonsburg Bicentennial Drive, Canonsburg Hospital, The Washington Hospital, American Hellenistic Education Society, Washington City Mission, Washington County 4-H, Washington County Food Bank, and the Kidney Foundation of Western Pennsylvania.
Since Frank’s death in 2010, grants have been recommended by his widow, Athena Sarris.
