Beltane at the Brownlee House

Samuel and Catherine Brownlee have returned home in celebration of Beltane on this May 1 with the help of local artist, Jessica Burkley. Ms. Burkley used small portraits obtained from the Historical Society of Pennsylvania to create a pair of stylized paintings for Catherine and Samuel. The portraits serve as a wonderful addition to the Brownlee House Heritage Rooms, which have been curated to tell the story of how wealthy Scottish immigrants, like the Brownlee Family, might have lived on the 19th century American frontier.

Community Foundation Announces WCCF Gives 2024

The Washington County Community Foundation has cumulatively awarded close to $12 million in unrestricted grants to Washington County charities through WCCF Gives. Each year, this annual community-wide giving event is supported by thousands of donors and provides grants to more than 100 local charities providing diverse programs throughout Washington County.

The Community Snapshot Project

The Community Snapshot is a new concept.

Using data-driven research, the Washington County Community Foundation looked at our County’s strengths and weaknesses, and then created the Community Snapshot website to profile those needs and opportunities. The WCCF is pleased to announce the availability of more than $130,000 in post-secondary lifelong learning grants for local students.

Community Foundation Accepting Applications for Capacity-Building Grants

The Washington County Community Foundation is currently accepting applications for capacity-building grant requests ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. A minimum of $500,000 will be awarded through two competitive cycles this year, with initial applications due April 1, 2024 or October 1, 2024.
