Mission

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. In process, we strive to positively impact the lives and development of youth through the following core principles: strengthen family relationships; foster self-esteem through personal achievement; teach healthy living skills; and develop a sense of personal and community responsibility.

Programs and Services

  • Laurel Highlands Council's Scouting programs provide young people with a diverse education and positive mentors who will help them succeed in life and grow to become positive and contributing adult members of their community. Scouting utilizes applied learning, service to others, youth-led operations, and mentorship in program implementation. Scouting programs are designed to reinforce the education students receive in school and provide lessons and experiences that are oftentimes absent in traditional school curriculums such as leadership, character, and citizenship.
  • Scouts BSA is designed for boys and girls ages 11-18. Scouts learn responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities and educational programs.
  • Cub Scouts is a year-round, family-friendly program designed for boys and girls who are in kindergarten through fifth grade (ages 5-10). Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness.
