Mission
The mission of the Mon Valley Academy for the Arts (MVAA) is to provide arts and cultural programs and activities to the Mon Valley and beyond that informs, entertains and engages this community and the region in lifelong learning and cultural experiences for all ages. In line with our mission, MVAA hopes to build stronger communities, neighborhoods, and economies, while providing artists the opportunity to share their talents by providing professional showcases including classes, workshops, performances, exhibits and more within the region. We hope to cultivate vibrant communities by connecting artists with the community, building skills, sharing information, and services that will allow artists to make a living doing their work while providing much needed arts and cultural opportunities to the greater community.
Programs and Services
- The Mon Valley Academy for the Arts (MVAA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization that offers an eclectic array of programming and events, including:
- -Musical instruction: The MVAA offers private and group lessons on various instruments, including drums, guitar, mandolin, bagpipe, piano, woodwinds, and flutophone. Lessons are tailored to the individual student's needs and goals, and students are encouraged to progress at their own pace.
- -Art exhibits: The MVAA hosts a variety of art exhibits throughout the year featuring the work of local artists. Exhibits are open to the public and provide a unique opportunity to experience the work of talented artists from the Mon Valley and beyond.
- -Free summer concert series: The MVAA hosts a free summer concert series every year featuring a variety of musical genres. Concerts are held in various outdoor venues throughout the Mon Valley and are a great way to enjoy the summer weather and some great music.
- -Youth programs: The MVAA offers the Twin Coaches Junior Stage Band, the VoiceZ on Fire show choir, and the Regimental Fife and Drum Unit, all opportunities for youth in grades 7-12 to perform with a live band. The band(s) perform at a variety of events throughout the year, including the MVAA's free summer concert series.

Primary Revenue Sources
The Mon Valley Academy for the Arts (MVAA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that relies on donations, lesson revenue, and grants to fund its programs and services. Donations from individuals and businesses are essential to the MVAA's ability to provide high-quality arts education and cultural experiences to the Mon Valley community. Lesson revenue helps to offset the cost of providing music and art instruction to students of all ages. Grants from government agencies and foundations provide much-needed support for the MVAA's programs and services. The MVAA is grateful for the support of its donors, students, and community partners.
