"To educate the public regarding the historical development and significance of jazz music, with a special emphasis on young musicians and young audience, providing scholarships for deserving young musicians and jazz assistance education and community, and promoting live jazz music by local musicians and preserving jazz as an art."
Programs and Services
- The Washington Jazz Society is a non-profit organization founded in 2007, whose mission is to educate the public about Jazz Music through concerts featuring national and local jazz musicians. Our programs provide scholarships for deserving young musicians, as well as Jazz educational and performance experiences for young musicians within our community. The Washington Jazz Society celebrates the Jazz Tradition, as we look forward to the future for the ever-evolving music called Jazz
- We also sponsor the AMP (Afterschool Music Program) designed for Children who's families cannot afford lessons. After completing the program, the students can keep their instruments, too.
