William and Sara Litle and Roy and Sara McCullough Scholarship Fund

The William and Sara Litle and Roy and Sara McCullough Scholarship Fundwas created by a bequest from the last will and testament of Sara Jane Litle McCullough. The fund awards scholarships to students from Washington County or Greene County who are entering their first year at Washington & Jefferson College and majoring in either music or economics.

Sara Jane Litle McCullough was born June 5, 1931, and raised in Washington. 

She was the daughter of Sara Allison Litle and William McClelland Litle. In addition to two brothers, William Albert Litle and James Allison Litle, she had many cherished Washington County relatives, including her grandparents, Albert Johnston Allison Sr., Etta Tucker Allison, William Absalom Litle and Mary McClelland Litle.

Mrs. McCullough was married in 1958 to Roy Arthur McCullough of Waynesburg, the proprietor of the former Sutton Printing Co. in Waynesburg. While she and Roy had no children of their own, she had close relationships with her brothers’ children and grandchildren. 

Mrs. McCullough was a 1949 graduate of East Washington High School. She attended Wooster (Ohio) College, graduating in 1953. After Wooster, she spent a year at Katherine Gibbs College in Boston. Upon finishing her education, she spent more than 30 years working for Washington Steel Corp.

Except for her years at school, Mrs. McCullough spent her entire life in Washington. Over the years, she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Current Events Club and Southpointe Golf Club.
