Washington County Visiting Nurses’ Association Scholarship Fund

Visiting nurses

According to the National Visiting Nurses’ Association, the charity made a critical difference at the turn of the 19th century for the homebound, the impoverished, the frail, elderly, and children at-risk, and, in the 20th century, gave quality of life and independence to many Americans.

In 1995, when faced with its dissolution, the Washington County Chapter of the Visiting Nurses’ Association chose to create a perpetual scholarship fund at the WCCF with its remaining assets to support future nurses in Washington County. The Washington County Visiting Nurses’ Association Scholarship Fund was the first permanent scholarship fund of the Foundation. It provides annual scholarships to local students who have successfully completed their first year of an approved nursing program.
