The Washington County Community Foundation remembers John A. Campbell, a Founding Trustee, Past Chairman of the Board, and longtime champion of philanthropy whose leadership and commitment to community service helped shaped the Foundation from its earliest days.
As one of WCCF’s founding members, John worked alongside fellow Founding Trustee Charles Keller to introduce the new Community Foundation and its charitable giving opportunities to the Washington County community. John remained closely connected to the Foundation throughout the years, and he and his wife, Barbara, were recognized as WCCF’s 2008 Philanthropists of the Year.
John’s commitment to giving was also reflected through Campbell Insurance Associates, which he and Barbara founded in 1989. The company received WCCF’s Charles C. Keller Excellence Award for Corporate Philanthropy in 2019 in recognition of its exemplary giving and community service. Beyond the Foundation, John devoted his time and leadership to numerous community organizations, including the Washington Hospital, United Way of Washington County, and Washington Rotary Club.
The Foundation extends our heartfelt condolences to Barbara, the Campbell family, and all who knew John. We are deeply grateful for his vision, leadership, many years of service, and for the lasting philanthropic legacy he helped build in Washington County.
