EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. – The Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is pleased to announce the availability of Board Development Grants to help strengthen the governance, leadership, and overall effectiveness of charitable organizations serving Washington County. With generous support from CHROME Federal Credit Union, the program will provide up to five eligible charities with a $500 grant to engage Nonprofit SideKick for a customized, two-hour board development training session. Each session is tailored to the specific needs of the organization and covers the duties, roles, responsibilities, and rights of board members, including their role in fundraising.

Past grantees report that the sessions have had a meaningful and positive impact on organizational effectiveness and board engagement. “I’m happy to share that the session was both productive and insightful,” said Virginia McAnulty, Vice President of the Washington County Watershed Alliance.

“Wendy (of Nonprofit Sidekick) did a wonderful job of guiding our discussion as we gained a deeper understanding of our organization. As a result of the training, we have begun exploring ways to strengthen our governance practices. Personally, I believe this type of training would be a valuable component of every new Board Member’s onboarding process.”

Applications must be submitted by Saturday, January 31, via the Foundation’s website at www.wccf.net.
