Eighty Four, PA – The Washington County Community Foundation recently awarded $5,700 in grants to three local nonprofits through its internship grant program, funded by the Three Oaks Internship Fund and the Betty Drach Internship Fund. The program provides stipends to student interns who are enrolled in accredited post-secondary educational programs and perform services for nonprofit organizations, helping both students and organizations grow.

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum received a $2,000 grant to expand its educational outreach. “Education is at the heart of our mission,” said Jeanine DeBor, Deputy Executive Director. “Our intern will support STEAM camps and field trips, helping engage children in hands-on learning.” The intern will assist the Manager of STEAM & Education Programs with delivering summer activities and interacting with the public.

Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania also received a $2,000 grant to support two student interns assisting with survivor support and legal advocacy. “These internships offer a deep look into the complexities of domestic violence work,” said Shelena Rauscher, Volunteer Coordinator. One intern will help at the safe house and helpline, while the other will assist the legal team with client support in the court system.

Always B Smiling received $1,700 to help manage its full summer of inclusive programming. “Having an intern allows us to better serve our mission of spreading smiles,” said Executive Director Kristin Huibregtse. The intern contributes to preparing materials, leading activities, managing communications, and tracking program outcomes.
