Featured Presenter: Karen Primm, Contractor for Grant Services Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, California University of Pennsylvania

In this workshop, we will cover the basics of effective grant writing:

  • What are Grants, Who Makes Them and Why?
  • How do you find out about current grant programs?
  • What steps do you follow in pursuing a grant?
  • A step-by step approach to writing grant proposals.

Karen Primm’s credentials include 27 years in grants writing and administration at California University of PA.  Throughout 17 years with the gerontology program, her grant proposals brought in over $2,000,000 from the government and private sector.  

As a consultant, Ms. Primm’s clients have included the Heinz Endowments and California University of PA.  Since March 2016 to the present, Ms. Primm has assisted Cal U faculty and staff in securing over $7,000,000 in external funding.

She has delivered multiple Grant-Seeking Workshops to university personnel and the community and has   co-presented with the McCune Foundation for the Grantmakers of Southwestern PA.

Now Available: Raffle Tickets for 
December 17 Steelers Game

The WCCF is raffling four tickets and limousine service to and from Heinz Field for the Sunday, December 17 game vs. the New England Patriots.  The game tickets, donated by the Observer-Reporter, are in section 224.  Raffle tickets are $5 each.

The winner will be determined by the first validated Pennsylvania Lottery number drawn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017.  If the number drawn on this date is an unsold ticket, the winner will be determined by the next day's 7:00 p.m. drawing until a winner is determined.

Proceeds from the raffle benefit the Acorn Fund, which awards grants in the Foundation's six funding areas: arts and humanities, education, environment, and animal welfare, health and fitness, human needs, and religion and faith-based programs.
